"Good Time Charlies" Lakehurst, NJ (1977)
THAT 70'S BAND! The band BORZOI was a true example of the 70's genre! Although primarily a Jersey Shore 'cover band', they were well known for their tight musicianship, great vocals, and explosive stage show.
(to which they also added pyro-technics!) This way, it wasn't just the band that was always going off!
BORZOI was a band that was always on the verge of making that transition from bar band to recording act, but for whatever reason, fate just seemed to have other plans for them. Like, .. a head on collision on the NY Thruway! ....The band truck overturning and spilling all of the equipment onto an ice covered highway! ...A packed night club in Pennsylvania burning to the ground during the last set! You know...stuff like that!
Voted the band "most likely to have an accident", BORZOI stormed its way around the N.Y. Tri-state area for two years before their first break-up, only to re-group in the mid 80's, and again in 1990. In 2002 the band got back together for a 25 year reunion that drew an unexpectedly large group of friends and followers who were delighted to see and hear them crank out that good ol' rock n' roll music, "just like back in the day".
December 2003: A six song mix of original BORZOI music written and recorded between 1976 and 1986 by singer/songwriter KIM JENKINS (BMI) was reformatted for release on CD. This disc contains songs performed by the various band members, friends, and fellow musicians that make up the extended BORZOI MUSIC family.
2004...BORZOI IN PARADISE! ...Kim Jenkins followed guitarist Clif Nivison to Florida's West Coast! Former band Mgr. Artie Peloso is down there too! 2005 & 2006...Clif has been opening for major acts such as Lynrd Skynrd,Styx,Grand Funk RR,& 38 Special! Kim and Clif have been Jammin all around the south Florida music scene from Orlando to Miami! A Borzoi re-re-re-re-reunion was held on New Year's Eve 2008 at Artie's in Orlando. ...Ya shoulda been dere!
